Tom Bracegirdle

From a young age I’ve had a slightly obsessive interest in sports of all kinds. I was lucky enough to be exposed to a wide range of sports including rugby, athletics, swimming and tennis, all of which have one thing in common, they use the body’s natural ability to move. As a youngster I was made of rubber and had bottomless energy.  I was able to do something sporty nearly every day of the week and bounce back up off the ground no matter how many times I fell. However, like us all, I aged (NB not necessarily grew up!) and it became harder for me to bounce back from any injuries.

Unfortunately, injuries became my reality playing rugby for my University's 1st team – I seemed to spend more time with the physio than on the pitch. That’s when I became interested in the science behind training, in an attempt to recapture the childlike energy and robustness I had and to ensure I’m able to play the sports I love for years to come. Looking back, I now know and can see why injuries kept cropping up.  If only I had been aware of the influences of different training styles maybe I wouldn’t have spent so much time with the physios. After graduating with my degree in Sports Science I then completed further necessary qualifications to take my affinity for sport and movement to the next level. Currently I am playing for Wimbledon Rugby Club at a semi-professional level.  Alongside that I like to swim when I get the chance (preferably in the sea, but alas, I live in London), and I enjoy playing tennis.

I love supporting all my clients through their various journeys, in the rediscovery of their innate health, wellbeing and greater confidence in movement and overall fitness.

Performance goals, strength improvement, chronic pain and weight loss goals are some of the reasons people have begun training with me. The style of training that I use with my clients varies greatly, and certainly isn’t textbook. I have combined my own personal experiences playing high level sports, with theory from movement coaches at the Gray Institute. I have created a style of training designed to point/re-jig my clients back to achieving goals they want and to move far better, whatever their age or condition. I have had the opportunity to work with a range of people with different needs, men and women, with ages ranging from 14-70 years. I pride myself on building great relationships with my clients - it is a vital part of the trust they put in me to help them.

I invest myself into every individual and their bespoke training programme and get great enjoyment out of helping people achieve goals they once thought out of reach.

The majority of my clients are not athletes but I do also work with sports professionals including the GB (91kg) Judo champion, several GB rowers, GB Flag Football Quarterback, GB Youth Javelin athlete and various rugby players. I am hugely motivated to continually improve and update my practice and to provide the best possible service.
